In honor of the historic 50th anniversaries of women at Kenyon and the founding of the Black Student Union, as well as trailblazing alumnus William E. Lowry Jr. ’56 H’99, three new scholarships have been created — with opportunities to provide immediate support to today’s students.

Watch this brief video to hear how your gift to support scholarships directly impacts today's students:

A gift at any level to any of these scholarships goes directly to the student(s) selected each year.

Kenyon Women's Annual Scholarship

The Kenyon Women’s Annual Scholarship benefits a student with demonstrated financial need, with preference given to a female student.

Pope Memorial Annual Scholarship

The Pope Memorial Annual Scholarship, created in honor of Ruben E. “Ed” Pope ’70, a founding member of the Black Student Union, provides scholarship support to students who demonstrate financial need with preference given to students from urban Ohio public schools.

President Sean Decatur and William E. Lowry Jr. '56 H'99 have announced that they will personally match any gift made to the Pope Memorial Annual Scholarship, up to $20,000.

Lowry Annual Scholarship

The Lowry Annual Scholarship was named in honor of William E. Lowry Jr. ’56 H’99, who was the first Black student in the nation initiated into Beta Theta Pi, student body president and captain of the football, basketball and baseball teams. Along with the endowed portion of this scholarship, it helps bring more underrepresented students to Kenyon.
